Abstract: Analyzes snow, air temperature and precipitation data from Arctic coastal and island stations for 1951-2002 and drifting stations in Arctic basin for 1954-1991. Observes steady increase in snow cover days at most stations in Eurasian sector, and reduction in North American sector. For intervals <52 years, trends in snow cover duration differ between Eurasian Arctic regions. Observes, over last decade in particular, increase in Kara sea and decrease in East-Siberian and Chukchi seas. Trends are consistent with temperature and precipitation trends. Earlier snow cover formation for entire Eurasian Arctic coast is consistent with negative autumn air temperature trend, and earlier decay consistent with positive long-term spring temperature trend.
