Многолетняя изменчивость толщины снежного покрова и колебания речного стока в Северной Евразии

Title: Многолетняя изменчивость толщины снежного покрова и колебания речного стока в Северной Евразии
Title, transliterated: Mnogoletni︠a︡i︠a︡ izmenchivostʹ tolshchiny snezhnogo pokrova i kolebanii︠a︡ rechnogo stoka v Severnoĭ Evrazii / V.V. Popova.
Translated title: Long-term variability of snow cover and fluctuations of river runoff in Northern Eurasia.
Author(s): Popova, V. V.
Date: 2004.
Language: Russian.
In: Materialy Gli︠a︡t︠s︡iologicheskikh Issledovaniĭ. (2004.), Vol. 97 (2004)
Abstract: Evaluates impact of interannual snow depth variations on changes of annual runoff for river basins Volga, Northern Dvina, Ob, Yenisey and Lena, and examines recent trends in context of NAO (North Atlantic Oscillation) anomalies and global warming. Presents spatial distributions of: mean February snow depth; difference between snow depth anomalies averaged over years with NAO index >1 and over years with NAO index <-1; correlation between snow depth and runoff. Discusses statistics and NAO signal in snow depth data. Notes decadal variations in snow depth reflected in runoff, but long term trends do not coincide. Concludes increased Volga and Yenisey runoff since 1970s caused by frequency of positive NAO anomalies.
