| Abstract: | Investigates maturity of organic matter according to its vitrinite reflectance (Ro). Studies depth dependence of Ro and constructs model curves of organic matter maturity in prospecting and test boreholes. Catagenetic model suggests large-scale hydrocarbon generation in sediments of deep Barents Sea megatrough from Early Palaeozoic to Late Mesozoic. Considers this area to have potential for petroleum deposits. |
