Modeling the decline of the Porcupine Caribou Herd, 1989-1998: the importance of survival vs. recruitment / Stephen M. Arthur, Kenneth R. Whitten, Francis J. Maur, Dorothy Cooley.

Title: Modeling the decline of the Porcupine Caribou Herd, 1989-1998: the importance of survival vs. recruitment / Stephen M. Arthur, Kenneth R. Whitten, Francis J. Maur, Dorothy Cooley.
Author(s): Arthur, Stephen M.
Whitten, Kenneth R.
Maur, Francis J.
Cooley, Dorothy.
Date: 2003.
In: Rangifer. (2003.), Special issue No. 14 (2003)
Abstract: Models dynamics of the Porcupine Caribou Herd to evaluate whether three years of reduced recruitment could account for observed decline, or if some other change might have occurred. Prepares deterministic model using estimates of birth and survival rates which reproduced pattern of population growth from 1971-1989 and subsequently changes parameters to simulate effects of lower calf recruitment and adult survival.
