Record #173124:

The Eleonore Sø and Målebjerg foreland windows, East Greenland Caledonides, and the demise of the 'stockwerke' concept / A.K. Higgins, A. Graham Leslie.

Title: The Eleonore Sø and Målebjerg foreland windows, East Greenland Caledonides, and the demise of the 'stockwerke' concept / A.K. Higgins, A. Graham Leslie.
Author(s): Higgins, A. K.
Leslie, A. Graham.
Date: 2004.
In: Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland Bulletin. (2004.), Vol. 6 (2004)
Abstract: 1997-1998 mapping expeditions of Eleonore Sø and Målebjerg foreland windows provided evidence for large-scale, westward-directed thrusting in Kong Oscar Fjord region (72°-75°N), counter to 'stockwerke' concept of in situ highly mobile infrastructure characterised by rising fronts of Caledonian migmatisation and metasomatism. Paper reviews earlier investigations in both areas, and misinterpretations of rock units that initially obscured recognition of foreland affinity. Windows can now be placed in context, as part of lowest structural level of foreland-propagating thrust pile of Kong Oscar Fjord region.
