Record #172590:

Mapping Terra Incognita / Carl Murray.

Title: Mapping Terra Incognita / Carl Murray.
Author(s): Murray, Carl.
Date: 2005.
In: Polar Record. (2005.), Vol. 41(217) (2005)
Abstract: Discusses epistemological implications of theorizing and representation in maps of undiscovered Antarctic continent, and examines examples of medieval and Renaissance maps of Terra Incognita. Argues that filling in blank spaces both reflected yearning for complete knowledge and provided opportunity for non-geographical discourse missing in maps today.
