Record #172580:

Aerial predation by a south polar skua Catharacta maccormicki on a snow petrel Pagodroma nivea in Antarctica / M.J. Bentley.

Title: Aerial predation by a south polar skua Catharacta maccormicki on a snow petrel Pagodroma nivea in Antarctica / M.J. Bentley.
Author(s): Bentley, M. J.
Date: 2004.
In: Marine Ornithology. (2004.), Vol. 32(1) (2004)
Abstract: Describes instance above Ablation Valley, Alexander Island, of south polar skua attacking adult snow petrel in flight and subsequently killing it, and discusses possibility that distance of at least 100 km to open water meant skuas here may rely on snow petrels as significant source of food.
