First evidence of ingestion of plastic debris by seabirds at sub-Antarctic Heard Island / H.J. Auman, Eric J. Woehler, M.J. Riddle, H. Burton.

Title: First evidence of ingestion of plastic debris by seabirds at sub-Antarctic Heard Island / H.J. Auman, Eric J. Woehler, M.J. Riddle, H. Burton.
Author(s): Auman, H. J.
Woehler, Eric J.
Riddle, M. J.

Date: 2004.
In: Marine Ornithology. (2004.), Vol. 32(1) (2004)
Abstract: Dissection of 18 carcasses at Heard Island in 2000-01 found two surface seizing Antarctic prions with plastic particles inside their digestive systems, though not such as to cause physiologic stresses. Of 396 regurgitated sub-Antarctic skua casts dissected to assess potential indirect sources of marine debris ingestion, only two contained small plastic particles.
