Record #172557:

Vertical migration as a response to UVR stress in Calanus finmarchicus females and nauplii / Anette Wold, Fredrika Norrbin.

Title: Vertical migration as a response to UVR stress in Calanus finmarchicus females and nauplii / Anette Wold, Fredrika Norrbin.
Author(s): Wold, Anette.
Norrbin, Fredrika.
Date: 2004.
In: Polar Research. (2004.), Vol. 23(1) (2004)
Abstract: Calenoid copepod Calanus finmarchicus was exposed to artificial ultra-violet and photosynthetically active radiation under laboratory conditions. Both nauplii and females migrated downwards when exposed to UVR. Light measurements in Vestfjorden show zooplankton are generally exposed to low UVR levels. Strong surface turbulence may prevent nauplii from adjusting position.
