The Antarctic stratospheric sudden warming and split ozone hole of 2002 / R. Alan Plumb, Steven C. Wofsy, Theodore G. Shepherd, eds.
Title: | The Antarctic stratospheric sudden warming and split ozone hole of 2002 / R. Alan Plumb, Steven C. Wofsy, Theodore G. Shepherd, eds. |
Author(s): | Plumb, R. Alan, Wofsy, Steven C., Shepherd, Theodore G., |
Date: | 2005. |
Abstract: | Special issue presents collection of 27 papers covering dynamical and chemical aspects of split ozone hole over Antarctica in late September 2002. Includes characterization of unusual nature of event, and whether sudden warming might have happened in the past; synoptic description, and comparison with sudden warmings in Arctic; attempts to explain, through diagnostic analyses, why event occurred; predictability of event; connections to climate through stratosphere-troposphere coupling; characterization of event through measurements of various chemical species, including ozone; predictability and modelling studies of ozone evolution during the event; and impact on chemical ozone loss and its midlatitude consequences. |
Notes: | Offprint: Journal of the Atmospheric Sciences. Vols. 62(3); 565-900. |
