Abstract: | Continues section on early Russian explorers of Siberia covered in first volume. Describes voyage of Ivan Rubets from Lena river to Kamchatka river (1661-62). Recounts events of 1669-96 including tragic expedition of Ivan Yermolin to Penzhin and Kamchatka, southern campaign of Vasiliy Kuznetsov (1688), mutiny of Yakut Cossacks in 1690, and campaign of Coassack Luka Semenov Morosko (1695-96). Remainder of monograph covers unification of Kamchatka to Russia detailing life and campaigns of Vladimir Atlasov and his murder, and other expeditions in kamchatka in 1700-06. Examines maps of Kamchatka in early 18th century. |
