Abstract: Briefly describes sea ice and outlines sources of Arctic sea ice in Davis and Hudson straits, its spread over northern part of Grand Banks and possible extensions along eastern edge of Banks or along east coast of Newfoundland. Describes signs of sea ice, such as iceblink, ice sky and effects on swell, and influence of sea ice on icebergs. Discusses causes and effects on icebergs of slow sea ice growth during 2003-4 season.
