| Abstract: | Uses multiyear high quality ice-drift data from three radar stations and summer current-meter data to examine sea-ice motion on shelf. Examines seasonality of near-shore circulation and how well shelf currents represent ice motion. Compares summer and winter ice motions and shows motion governed primarily by diurnal tidal currents and wind-induced drift, with responses to along- and cross-shore wind components depending on ice extent and cohesion. Finds ice drift kinematics good indicators of dynamical processes. Compares diurnal ice-drift velocities with barotropic model and examines role of diurnal shelf waves. |
