Record #172330:

Use of statistically and dynamically downscaled atmospheric model output for hydrologic simulations in three mountainous basins in the western United States / L.E. Hay, M.P. Clark.

Title: Use of statistically and dynamically downscaled atmospheric model output for hydrologic simulations in three mountainous basins in the western United States / L.E. Hay, M.P. Clark.
Author(s): Hay, L. E.
Clark, M. P.
Date: 2003.
Abstract: Examines hydrologic model performance in three snowmelt-dominated basins of western United States using dynamically and statistically downscaled output from National Centers for Environmental Prediction/National Center for Atmospheric Research reanalysis (NCEP). Compares runoff produced with distributed hydrologic model using daily precipitation and maximum and minimum temperature time series derived from five sources (NCEP output, NCEP output dynamically downscaled using regional climate model RegCM2, statistically downscaled NCEP output, spatially averaged measured data used to calibrate hydrologic model, and a dataset constructed to compare performances of downscaled and station-based runoff simulations). Discusses need for precipitation and temperature biases in some time series and their validity for future climate. In special issue Mountain hydrology and water resources.
