Outlines debate over extent of Late Pleistocene glaciation of interior of Tibetan plateau (concludes in favour of smaller reconstructions). Discusses extent of Pleistocene moraines in: Nianbaoyeze; Bomi; Nyainqêntanglha Shan and Nam Co; and Gyaring Co. Identifies Late Pleistocene glacial stages approximately equivalent to Marine Isotope Stages 2 and 4. Younger moraines of Late Glacial and Holocene age occur further up valleys and remnants of larger Middle Pleistocene advances occur close to those of Late Pleistocene. Discusses equilibrium line depression and palaeoclimatic interpretation. Complementary digital maps on CD included with volume.
