Record #172321:

Quaternary glaciation of north-eastern Asia / Vladimir Zamoruyev.

Title: Quaternary glaciation of north-eastern Asia / Vladimir Zamoruyev.
Author(s): Zamoruyev, Vladimir.
Date: 2004.
Publisher: Amsterdam: Elsevier
In: Quaternary glaciations - extent and chronology : Part III South America, Asia, Australia, Antarctica. (2004.),
Abstract: Outlines mountain ranges, climate and former glaciation of region east of Lena river and north of Stanavoi range. A few mountain ice caps have existed. Most glaciers terminated on land, except on Chukotka peninsula where some reached modern shelf. Glaciers were believed to have reached maximum extent during Middle Pleistocene, but view gaining favour is that greatest extent was during Last Glacial Maximum, with traces of previous glaciations overridden. Describes sample evidence, particularly from radiocarbon dating, that supports this view or helps to determine deglaciation chronology. Notes mapped glaciation of Chukotka lowlands still controversial. Complementary digital maps on CD included with volume.
