Record #172299:

The Pleistocene glaciations of Chile / Stephan Harrison.

Title: The Pleistocene glaciations of Chile / Stephan Harrison.
Author(s): Harrison, Stephan.
Date: 2004.
Publisher: Amsterdam: Elsevier
In: Quaternary glaciations - extent and chronology : Part III South America, Asia, Australia, Antarctica. (2004.),
Abstract: Introduces glacial history of Chile and explains why sequence of evidence for terrestrial Pleistocene glaciations is one of world's most complete. Summarizes evidence and discusses palaeoclimatic implications. Believes maximum glaciation occurred during Middle Pleistocene and summarizes evidence from Chilean Lake District and Magellan straits. Summarizes Early/Middle Weichselian/Wisconsinan glaciation in Chilean Lake District and evidence from Last Glacial Maximum across Chile. Discusses glaciation during Younger Dryas of Lake District, Patagonian icefields and Magellan straits. Examines outstanding problems associated with undated moraine systems, glacier expansions during Younger Dryas, Neoglaciation and Little Ice Age, and non-linearity of response to climate forcing. Complementary digital maps on CD included with volume.
