| Abstract: | Discusses glacial limits investigated during 1980 glacial geological and geomorphological mapping project in three massifs of Mendoza Andes; Cerros Aconcagua, Tupungato and Juncal. Summarises reconstruction of glacier extent and thickness, presenting 12 valley- and glacier- cross profiles of Mendoza glacier system and ten illustrative photos. As well as Last Glacial Maximum (LGM) extent, differentiates five Late-Glacial readvances. Suggests LGM equlibrium line altitude was c. 1400 m lower than present one. Complementary digital maps on CD included with volume. |
