Study on storage of ice cold heat energy (1st report: theoretical prediction of ice storage in a cold region and model examination) / Koji Fumot, Hideaki Yamagashi.

Title: Study on storage of ice cold heat energy (1st report: theoretical prediction of ice storage in a cold region and model examination) / Koji Fumot, Hideaki Yamagashi.
Author(s): Fumot, Koji.
Yamagashi, Hideaki.
Date: 2004.
Language: Japanese.
In: Seppyo : Journal of the Japanese Society of Snow and Ice. (2004.), Vol. 66(5) (2004)
Abstract: Investigates use of natural cold thermal energy as cold source (for storage of harvest, air conditioning, etc.) in area of Kushiro, Hokkaido. Ice is made naturally during winter, stored in 20ft-type insulated container in cool conditions until summer, and conveyed to other areas on demand as cold thermal energy. Describes theoretical prediction, based on local weather conditions, of amount of residual ice in small ice shell stored in insulated container, and model experiment in low-temperature room. Shows climate of Kushiro suitable for cold thermal storage, with predicted quantity of residual ice in reasonably good agreement with model experiment.
