Abstract: Twelve ancient feather artefacts were analyzed to identify bird species associated with ice patches or weapons recovered from sites. Evidence of non-game birds shows subarctic hunters selected feathers for utility in fletching, or for symbolic or decorative purposes as long as 4500 years ago.
