| Abstract: | Presents initial results from March 2002 field experiment on fast ice in Kongsfjorden, Svalbard to investigate role seasonally covered ice fjords play in biological productivity. Describes measurement of sea ice surface reflectance and irradiance from bottom ice surface to depths of 7.5m at wavelengths from 350-1100 nm. Also presents results from model of wavelength-dependent transmittance through combined snow and ice layer for various snow thicknesses. |
