Title: | Movements of subadult male grizzly bears, Ursus arctos, in the central Canadian Arctic / Robert J. Gau, Philip D. McLoughlin, Ray Case, H. Dean Cluff, Robert Mulders, François Messier. |
Author(s): | Gau, Robert J. McLoughlin, Philip D. Case, Ray. Cluff, H. Dean. Mulders, Robert. Messier, François. |
Date: | 2004. |
In: | Canadian Field-Naturalist. (2004.), Vol. 118(2) (2004) |
Abstract: | Satellite radio-collars used to track eight subadult (3-5 years old) male grizzly bears in NWT between May 1995 and June 1999. Average home ranges were 11,407 km², (SE=3849). Seasonal daily movement patterns were similar to previously reported adult males. Individuals tracking migration of caribou (Rangifer tarandus) may account for long range linear movement. |
