Record #171585:

Arktisk Institut 1954 til 2004. Dengang - i dag - og i morgen / Leif Vanggaard.

Title: Arktisk Institut 1954 til 2004. Dengang - i dag - og i morgen / Leif Vanggaard.
Translated title: The Arctic Institute 1954-2004. Then - today - tomorrow.
Author(s): Vanggaard, Leif.
Date: 2004.
Language: Danish.
In: Grønland. (2004.), Vol. 52(7) (2004)
Abstract: After Egede and his successors made it virtual tradition to write memoirs on return to Europe, there is plenty of material to work on - geographical, cultural and eventually historical. Meddelelser om Grønland first appeared in 1879. This and missions obviated need for Arctic Institute as such. After WW2, Ebbe Munck and Eigil Knuth and others laid ground for AI. Home Rule forced changes including move in 1993 to Polar Center, avoiding dispersal of collection. Projects include archive digitisation, close liaison with national library and other collections and seeking ways to make material available in Greenland, e.g. in schools.
