Record #171572:

Peter Gundel: dagbogsbreve til laege Jørgen Hvam 1923-1930 / Kirsten Thisted.

Title: Peter Gundel: dagbogsbreve til laege Jørgen Hvam 1923-1930 / Kirsten Thisted.
Translated title: Peter Gundel: diary letters to Dr Jørgen Hvam 1923-1930.
Author(s): Thisted, Kirsten.
Date: 2004.
Language: Danish.
In: Grønland. (2004.), Vol. 52(3-4) (2004)
Abstract: Recent find of letters gives unique view (if slanted, then one of few from Greenlanders' side), of conditions in colony and relations with Denmark. Gundel published four serials in North Greenland paper Avangnâmioq, but not much else is known. He had been employed as interpreter by others, including Louis Bobé, before Hvam's arrival. Hvam was doctor in Jakobshavn 1919-1921, and kept up busy correspondence, often including his family in cycle, after returning to Denmark. Relationship was unbalanced, but persisted.
Notes:

Grønland. Vol. 52(3-4) :81-128 (2004).

Keywords: 323.1 -- National and ethnic minorities.
82-94 -- Diaries and expedition journals.
S -- Literature and Language.
(*3) -- Arctic regions.
(*38) -- Greenland.
