Record #171543:

Abundance and population trends of mollymawks on Campbell Island / Peter J. Moore.

Title: Abundance and population trends of mollymawks on Campbell Island / Peter J. Moore.
Author(s): Moore, Peter J.
Date: 2004.
In: New Zealand. Dept. of Conservation. Science for Conservation Series. (2004.), Vol. 242 (2004)
Abstract: Presents analysis of data on abundance and population trends of Campbell and grey-headed albatrosses on sub-Antarctic Campbell Island, from counts of nests in photographs taken since 1940s, and ground counts in 1990s. Discusses reasons for apparently continuous 82%-88% decrease in nest numbers at three grey-headed albatross colonies, with particular reference to environmental changes affecting food supply; large decrease in late 1960s to 1980s which coincided with peak in long-line fishing for southern bluefin tuna; and population monitoring methods and requirements.
