Abstract: Describes proposal of patriot priest, former Greenland missionary, married to Poul Egede's daughter, for special force of kayak warriors. He was backed by Captain Abrahamson, instructor and writer of patriotic songs at time of British attack on Reden in 1801. Nansen was later impressed by Eskimo throwing sticks used with fish spears. A.E. Nordenskiöld was one of few to notice Glahn's idea. He noted skills and stamina of kayak hunters and compared their special qualities with those of Saami skiers.
