Title: | Intra-continental fold belts: CASE 1: West Spitsbergen / Franz Tessensohn, ed. |
Author(s): | Tessensohn, Franz, |
Date: | 2001. |
In: | Geologisches Jahrbuch. Reihe B. (2001.), Vol. 91 (2001) |
Abstract: | Project Correlation of Alpine Structural Events in Spitsbergen and Greenland was undertaken by Bundesanstalt für Geowissenschaften und Rohstoffe to link onshore and offshore features in North Atlantic region. Volume contains results of first CASE expedition. Western rim of Spitsbergen was site of additional deformation during West Spitsbergen Orogeny, probably in Early Tertiary. Feature shows spectacular fold and thrust without any igneous activity or metamorphism. Main sections: architecture, by segments; role of Tertiary; timing - palaeontology and isotope chronology; concluding description of evolution of belt. Errata lists reversed photos. |
Notes: | Geologisches Jahrbuch. Reihe B. Vol. 91 :1-773 (2001). |
Keywords: | 54.027 -- Isotope analysis. 551.24 -- Geotectonics. 551.78 -- Tertiary. 56 -- Palaeontology. B -- Geology and soil sciences. (*3) -- Arctic regions. (*32) -- Svalbard. |
