Abstract: Not enough is known about excreted pathogens. 2243 faecal samples from healthy deer in northern Finland and Norway were examined for bacteria and parasites. Most contained Escherichia coli and Enterococcus. Yersinia (no pathogenic strains) were in 4.8% and Campylobacter in one sample only. Neither Salmonella nor Cryptosporidium was found.
