Effects of reindeer on the re-establishment of Betula pubescens subsp. czerepanovii and Salix phylicifolia in a sub-Arctic meadow / M. den Herder, P. Niemelä.

Title: Effects of reindeer on the re-establishment of Betula pubescens subsp. czerepanovii and Salix phylicifolia in a sub-Arctic meadow / M. den Herder, P. Niemelä.
Author(s): Herder, M. den.
Niemelä, P.
Date: 2003.
In: Rangifer. (2003.), Vol. 23(1) (2003)
Abstract: After removal of ground and field layer vegetation in 1986, two exclosures were set up and counts made in 1994, 1996, 1997 and 1999. Height of saplings was significantly reduced, but number of seedlings did not differ in browsed plots. Over time, browsed plots had high densities of small saplings, while increasing numbers of larger ones appeared in exclosures.
