Abstract: Hyne and friend Hayter went from Varanger to Gulf of Bothnia, ostensibly to observe Saami in own habitat. Half journey was on foot, half by canoe or cart. Ill-prepared, they had difficulty getting food, and summer conditions were wrong for travel. Style of book is now extinct.
