Record #171118:
Basal debris entrainment and transport in glaciers of southwestern Bylot Island, Canadian Arctic / Christian M. Zdanowicz, Frederick A. Michel, W.W. Shilts.
Title: | Basal debris entrainment and transport in glaciers of southwestern Bylot Island, Canadian Arctic / Christian M. Zdanowicz, Frederick A. Michel, W.W. Shilts. |
Author(s): | Zdanowicz, Christian M. Michel, Frederick A. Shilts, W. W. |
Date: | 1996. |
In: | Annals of Glaciology. (1996.), Vol. 22 (1996) |
Abstract: | Subglacial entrainment through basal ice accretion occurs in both upper and marginal parts of two large piedmont glaciers on south-western Bylot Island, flowing from alpine setting in high-grade crystalline Archaean terrain to coastal lowlands underlain by Cretaceous to Tertiary clastic sedimentary strata. Uses contrasting mineralogy of substrate to study entrainmnent and transport of debris. |
