Abstract: Complements digital maps included with volume. Reviews development of understanding of glaciation in Estonia and Baltic states in general. Two Pleistocene interglacials - (Karuküla (Holsteinian) and Prangli (Eemian) - and three glacials - Sangaste (Elsterian), Ugandi (Saalian) and Järva (Weichselian) are now recognized. Briefly reviews evidence for these and their chronologies. For Järva glaciation, outlines Valgjärv and Võrtsjärv substages, Savala interstadial, and deglaciation history, discussing field evidence from Haanja, Otepää, Sakala, Pandivere and Palivere ice-marginal zones and associated dating.
