In: Quaternary glaciations - extent and chronology : Part I Europe. (2004.),
Abstract: Complements digital maps included with volume. Summarises observations of glacial morphology of Balkans, including recent investigations using remote sensing and field observations. Numerous cirques, glacial troughs, moraines, etc., have been identified. Pleistocene snowline altitude has been determined, indicating Würmian glaciation limited to highest elevations. All evidence of earlier glaciations has been removed. Glaciation was Alpine-type, occurring in Serbia on Sara mountain, where 30-35 km² plateau-type glacier developed, and in Prokletije, Korab and Koritnik mountain areas. Describes two glacial centres in Monte Negro. In Durmitor area Alpine and plateau glaciers developed. Orjen mountains were characterised by karstic glaciation.
