Record #171011:

Pleistocene glaciations in the Ukraine / Andrei V. Matoshko.

Title: Pleistocene glaciations in the Ukraine / Andrei V. Matoshko.
Author(s): Matoshko, Andrei V.
Date: 2004.
Publisher: Amsterdam: Elsevier
In: Quaternary glaciations - extent and chronology : Part I Europe. (2004.),
Abstract: Complements digital maps included with volume. Two glaciations of Ukraine, the Oka and Dnieper, can be clearly distinguished. Narev (Lower Pleistocene) and Moscow (Middle Pleistocene) glaciations are also suggested. Discusses limits of Middle Pleistocene glaciations, referring L'viv lobe to Oka glaciation, and noting difficulty of identifying limit of West Polesian sector. Maps Dnieper glaciation limits and drainage, and discusses depositional evidence from Dnieper ice stream. Outlines mountain glaciation of Ukrainian Carpathians, where ancient cirque and cirque-valley glaciers are indicated and author suggests rock glaciers existed. Age estimates range from Mindelian and Rissian to Late Pleistocene.
