| Abstract: | Complements digital maps included with volume. Traces limits of four major ice sheets in Poland. Discusses limits of Middle Pleistocene ice sheets. South Polish, Elsterian glaciations extended furthest south. Only in SW Poland was this limit locally overridden, by Odranian ice sheet (Saalian I). Presents general stratigraphical subdivision of Polish Pleistocene and correlation with scheme of western Europe, with possible Middle Pleistocene variants. Discusses well-known Late Pleistocene glacial limits and maps those of Brandenburg and Pomeranian Phases of Late Vistulian. |
