Record #171005:

Glacial events in the western Iberian mountains / Bertrand Lemartinel.

Title: Glacial events in the western Iberian mountains / Bertrand Lemartinel.
Author(s): Lemartinel, Bertrand.
Date: 2004.
Publisher: Amsterdam: Elsevier
In: Quaternary glaciations - extent and chronology : Part I Europe. (2004.),
Abstract: Complements digital maps included with volume. In east, only Moncayo is high enough for development of Pleistocene glaciers. In west Urbión, Cebollera and Demanda have evidence of glaciation. Cirques are orientated to north. Glacial erosion is spectacular but marginal feature. Moraines are poorly developed. Interpretation of fluvioglacial sequences used to confirm chronology remains disputed. Four morainic ridges in Urbión glacial complex reflect successive ice advances of decreasing intensity during single cold period in Late Pleistocene. Traces of earlier glaciations are so far inconclusive. Author believes nothing to be gained by comparison with slope sequences of southern Pyrenees.
