Record #170984:

Palaeogeography of the last two glacial episodes in the Massif Central, France / Jean-Francois Buoncristiani, Michel Campy.

Title: Palaeogeography of the last two glacial episodes in the Massif Central, France / Jean-Francois Buoncristiani, Michel Campy.
Author(s): Buoncristiani, Jean-Francois.
Campy, Michel.
Date: 2004.
Publisher: Amsterdam: Elsevier
In: Quaternary glaciations - extent and chronology : Part I Europe. (2004.),
Abstract: Complements digital maps included with volume. Two morainic complexes are recognised in Massif Central. The "External" complex (CME) is attributed to last but one (Rissian) glaciation, the "Internal" complex (CMI) to last (Würmian) glacial maximum. Glaciation was more extensive in higher, western part, with Alaskan type glaciers on piedmont and small ice caps on plateaux. In east, ice caps occurred only on highest summits. Because of dating uncertainties, presents only reconstructions of maximum glaciations of two stages. Summarizes glaciation on Cantal, Mont-Dore, L'Aubrac, Le Forez and Eastern massifs.
