Glaciation of the Suntar-Khayata Ridge at climatic optima / M.D. Ananicheva, N.V. Davidovich.
Title: | Glaciation of the Suntar-Khayata Ridge at climatic optima / M.D. Ananicheva, N.V. Davidovich. |
Author(s): | Ananicheva, M. D. Davidovich, N. V. |
Date: | 2001. |
Publisher: | Sapporo, Japan: Hokkaido University |
In: | Proceedings of the international symposium on atmosphere-ocean-cryosphere interaction in the Sea of Okhotsk and the surrounding environment. (2001.), |
Abstract: | Condensed paper. Estimates principal glaciologic parameters of Suntar-Khayata glaciation during past warm intervals, at Holocene optimum (5 to 6 ka BP) and Eemian (Mikulino) interglacial optimum (~ 120 ka BP). Summarizes region's current climate and glaciation. Describes paleoclimatic reconstruction, based on using recent climate/glaciation relationships to adapt reconstructions made for any past time interval for coastal or plain regions to nival-glacial altitude zone. Glaciers may not have existed through Eemian if ELA was 300-400 metres higher than present, as suggested. During Holocene optimum, however, glaciers could have been stable, or even increasingly active. |
