Abstract: Text of third annual Philip Law Lecture, given by Managing Director of company specializing in tourist voyages to polar regions, particularly Antarctica. Provides overview of Antarctic tourism since Borchgrevink reputedly paid for his passage on Antarctic in 1895, to establishment of International Association of Antarctica Tour Operators (IAATO) in 1991 and present-day tourism. Discusses robust natural system of Antarctica, and outlines possible future scenarios for Antarctic tourism.
