Compares four different rock glaciers of Zailiyskiy plateau, dividing them into zones: 1)upper reaches - area of nourishment in which different types of moraine, and probably rocks of slope talus are assimilated and drawn into movement; 2) transit zone - transportation of rocks, expressed in parallel or horizontal surface bulges; and 3) frontal area - rock falls from rock glacier to base on trough or river valley bottom. Areas differ in fragment size and shape, fine material content, ice kernel depth and velocity. Discusses influences of granulometric composition and silt distribution on velocity. Paper presented at Glaciological Symposium "Future of glaciosphere under changing climate", 17-21 May 2002, Pushchino.
