| Abstract: | Sub-species has been in decline since 1961. In summer 1993, 2400 animals were counted from helicopter, and in 1998 similar search found only 43. Carcass numbers indicated death, rather than migration. Bad snow and ice conditions from 1994-95 to 1996-97 caused die-off. |
