Record #169163:

Typical aspects of cold regions shorelines / Mary-Louise Byrne, Jean-Claude Dionne.

Title: Typical aspects of cold regions shorelines / Mary-Louise Byrne, Jean-Claude Dionne.
Author(s): Byrne, Mary-Louise.
Dionne, Jean-Claude.
Date: 2002.
Publisher: Dordrecht: Kluwer
In: Landscapes of transition : Landform assemblages and transformations in cold regions. (2002.),
Abstract: Examines features and processes on coasts that experience ice and frost seasons, exclusive of currently glaciated coastlines (tidewater glaciers). Presents northern and southern hemisphere maps of cold coasts (where frost and ice processes have significant impact on local environment). Aims to: outline importance of cold coasts in Canada; compare processes and morphology of low and high latitude coastlines, concentrating on ice and frost action on rocky shorelines and intertidal marshes, the debris content of ice cover, and niveo-aeolian processes in coastal dunes; and identify the more important cold regions coastal processes. Advocates continued study in anticipation of accelerated economic development.
