Record #169160:

Proglacial and paraglacial fluvial and lacustrine environments in transition / Peter G. Johnson.

Title: Proglacial and paraglacial fluvial and lacustrine environments in transition / Peter G. Johnson.
Author(s): Johnson, Peter G.
Date: 2002.
Publisher: Dordrecht: Kluwer
In: Landscapes of transition : Landform assemblages and transformations in cold regions. (2002.),
Abstract: Explores landscape transitions occurring in proglacial and paraglacial environments based on horizontal link of sediment transfer rather than traditional vertical division into glaciology, hydrology and periglacial geomorphology. Discusses paradigms and prediction within geomorphology, emphasising need to understand transitions and landform assemblages. Illustrates influences of these concepts on geomorphological interpretation by reference to glacierized environments of south-west Yukon. Discusses "normal" fluvial regime in glacierized basins, rapid changes and major system changes in glacial drainage, sediment and drainage in ice-dammed and proglacial lakes, and semi-permanent lacustrine environments in glaciated and glacierized basins.
