Abstract: Examines wind stress energy input through surface ageostrophic currents. Results suggest that in addition to energy input to near inertial waves, total energy input to Ekman layer is approximately 3 TW, concentrated primarily over Southern Ocean and storm track in both North Pacific and North Atlantic oceans.
