Study on construction technology for cutting blasting in high-ice-content permafrost region at Kunlun mountain pass on Qinghai-Tibet railway / Yongyi Wang.

Title: Study on construction technology for cutting blasting in high-ice-content permafrost region at Kunlun mountain pass on Qinghai-Tibet railway / Yongyi Wang.
Author(s): Wang, Yongyi.
Date: 2002.
Language: Chinese.
In: Journal of Glaciology and Geocryology. (2002.), Vol. 25(1) (2002)
Abstract: Addresses problems of constructing cuttings in high-ice-content permafrost during warm season, taking typical construction on Qinghai-Tibet railway as example. Presents typical cutting cross section, contemporary meteorological data and diagrams of layout and charging structure for top and slope blasting holes. Provides principles for successful construction, including: adopt schedule to avoid construction in high temperatures; facilitate water drainage before beginning main construction; it is better to over-, rather than under-excavate, so as to meet required thickness of topsoil replacement; carry out blasting in two layers, initially leaving protecting layer 2 m thick for lessening permafrost disturbance. Make recommendations for blasting hole arrangement charging structure.
