Record #168348:

Climate regime of the coastal Antarctic ice sheet over the past 50 years indicated by the ice-core and meteorological records / Cunde Xiao, and 6 others.

Title: Climate regime of the coastal Antarctic ice sheet over the past 50 years indicated by the ice-core and meteorological records / Cunde Xiao, and 6 others.
Author(s): Xiao, Cunde.
Date: 2002.
Language: Chinese.
In: Journal of Glaciology and Geocryology. (2002.), Vol. 25(1) (2002)
Abstract: Presents records of accumulation and temperature over last 50 years obtained from ten firn cores around Lambert Glacier basin (LGB). Reports snow accumulation increased at rates 0.34 to 2.36 kg m⁻² a⁻¹ on eastern side of LGB (Wilkes Land and Princess Elizabeth Land) and decreased at rates -0.01 to -2.36 kg m⁻² a⁻¹ on western side of LGB (Dronning Maud Land, Mizuho Plateau and Kemp Land). Temperatures on eastern side increased at around 0.02 °C a⁻¹. At western side temperature trends were complex. Compares these trends with those observed in coastal station instrument records. Concludes firn-core records on eastern side of LGB reflect real variations of sea surface temperature and moisture in southern Indian ocean, but that more complex trends on western side reflect a more varied circulation pattern.
