Glacier fluctuations and the inferred climate changes in the A'Nyêmaqên mountains in the source area of the Yellow river / Shiyin Liu, and 6 others.

Title: Glacier fluctuations and the inferred climate changes in the A'Nyêmaqên mountains in the source area of the Yellow river / Shiyin Liu, and 6 others.
Author(s): Liu, Shiyin.
Date: 2002.
Language: Chinese.
In: Journal of Glaciology and Geocryology. (2002.), Vol. 24(6) (2002)
Abstract: Analyzes glacier variations in A'Nyêmaqên mountains in source area of Yellow river (Huang He) during Last Glacial Maximum (LGM), Little Ice Age (LIA) maximum and period 1966-2000. Using aerial photos, satellite images, topographical map and derived digital elevation model, reports glaciers in LGM covered 3.1 times present area. Glacier shrinkage since LIA accelerated in period 1966-2000. Extracts equilibrium line altitudes and reconstructs mean summer air temperatures at ELA with help of current climate data. Concludes summer temperature dropped by 2.1°C in LGM, corresponding to an ELA 420 m lower than that in 2000. Mean summer temperature in LIA maximum was 0.6°C lower than present.
