Author(s): Patterson, Brent R.
Olsen, Benjamin T.
Joly, Damien O.
Date: 2004.
In: Arctic. (2004.), Vol. 126(1) (2004)
Abstract: This fraction of Bluenose barren ground caribou has been little studied. 33 radio-collared beasts were available, 30 traced in June 2000. Excluding presumed West animals, over 84 000 adults and 4 000 calves were photographed. Statistical models showed estimate of over 200 000 and possibly 400 000; authors recommend monitoring body condition to anticipate starvation crash.
