Climate into the 21st Century / William Burroughs, ed.

Title: Climate into the 21st Century / William Burroughs, ed.
Author(s): Burroughs, William,
Date: 2003.
Publisher: Cambridge: Cambridge University Press
Abstract: Collection of essays by leading meteorologists who believe that climate system is changing as result of human affairs, and may have catastrophic effects. Arresting and extreme events are described. Models so far use Navier-Stokes equations for motion of air masses, laws of thermodynamics, earth rotation and topography and interfaces with earth and sea. Shortcomings in coupled models for prediction over scales greater than 6000 years are noted. In particular, vegetation effects and ocean heat transport are uncertain.
Keywords: 519.673 -- Modelling.
551.5 -- Meteorology.
551.583 -- Climatic changes.
D -- Atmospheric sciences.
(*2) -- Polar regions.
Location(s): SCO: SPRI-SHF: 551.58
