Record #167888:
The south temperate and Antarctic ascidian Corella eumyota reported in two harbours in north-western France / Gretchen Lambert.
Title: | The south temperate and Antarctic ascidian Corella eumyota reported in two harbours in north-western France / Gretchen Lambert. |
Author(s): | Lambert, Gretchen. |
Date: | 2004. |
In: | Journal of the Marine Biological Association of the United Kingdom. (2004.), Vol. 84(1) (2004) |
Abstract: | First report of Corella eumyota in northern hemisphere details morphological characteristics of large aggregations of tightly adherent individuals attached to floating docks in two small harbours, presumed to be secondary sites of invasion. Most individuals contained clutch of brooding embryos in atrial cavity, resting on posterolateral epithelium overlying ovotestis very close to openings of sperm duct and oviduct, immediately adjacent to each other on surface of ovotestis, and far from atrial siphon, suggesting that species may routinely self-fertilize. |
Notes: | Journal of the Marine Biological Association of the United Kingdom. Vol. 84(1) :239-241 (2004). |
